Bhaja & Karla Caves-Ekvira Temple
Lonavla
Exploring Caves
We woke up at 5.30 am for our second trek on 19th Sep 2009. First one to board the bus followed by picking up Alok's project friends around Mumbai, and then headed towards our destination - Visapur Fort with an aim to trek. We all reached 3000 years old buddhist Bhaja caves where our guide ellaborated the history of "Gurus" and "Shishyas" stupas and their meditation rooms. The climate was against us as this was a sunny day, so the true trekkers decided to head towards Visapur Fort and half of "Masti-Khors" including us decided to hang around Lonavala. We wished the trekkers "All the best" and took our bus straight to Kumar Resorts AC restaurant for lunch :)
We trekked for five minutes down to Tiger Valley waterfall and were wet in next five minutes. Enjoyed the cool waterfall as the hot summer day concealed with clouds and the climate turned awesome. We had tea, corns and tasty corn bhajiya at the waterfall and then Trekked to Karla Caves which is real peaceful place with similar extensive structure as Bhaja Caves. Fortunately, on the first day of "Navratri", we had darshan of devi in Ekvira Temple which is situated in Karla Caves. Then as the True-Trekkers returned from their trek and we rejoined with them to have dinner and was back to the way of Mumbai.
